  Located in a beautiful stone cottage; the property has been converted to the highest standards for the sole purpose of childcare. It is very much a home based atmosphere - with the kitchen and dining room being the main heart of the house. Here, all the age groups come together at meal times enabling them to learn to show care and respect for others outside their own peer groups.

  Each specific age group occupies one of the three floors of the house, in light, roomy spaces for play and quiet, comfortable areas for resting and sleeping. Leigh Cottage has full disabled access.

  Garden

  The cottage garden has areas for different outside activities, including all- weather play spaces and enclosed grass areas. Our garden is surrounded by open fields and looks across to the White Horse and Salisbury Plain.

  Management

  Leigh Cottage is managed by a qualified primary school teacher and Early Years Professional, with over 30 years of experience within the teaching sector, including over 20 years of Nursery management.

  Each member of our team is qualified to the highest level and all are appointed for their enthusiasm, experience, empathy and commitment to working with children.

  We place great emphasis on our high adult: child ratio and we work together as a team to create a caring and nurturing family atmosphere throughout the setting.

  Twinkles - from 3 months

  Twinkles, the youngest children in our care, occupy two rooms – a quiet sleep room with cots and an adjacent playroom with a wide selection of toys to encourage development in all areas.

  A high adult: child ratio ensures your child is cared for at the highest level, and each child‘s daily routine is recorded so information can be passed between you and your child’s Key person at the end of your child’s day.

• sparkles

  Sparkles - from 18 months

  Sparkles is accommodated in two rooms, specifically designed for the children to have plenty of play space so that they can move about and explore.

  There is a quiet area with sleep mats for day time rests and a wide assortment of developmentally appropriate toys and activities in the main play room.

  Staff will work with your child to assist potty and toilet training during their time in this part of the cottage, and infant designed toilet facilities adjoin these two rooms for this purpose.

• comets

  Comets - from 28 months

  Comets is based in the top room at Leigh Cottage and their activities and resources are designed to prepare them for beginning in the Pre-school room.

  There is a role play area and a quieter book corner used for Circle time, Reading and Songtime. The younger Comets will continue to work closely with Sparkles , whilst the older Comets begin to integrate with the Stars.

  Stars - from 38 months

  Stars are located on the ground floor of the cottage, and have a large, light playroom with double doors leading to an enclosed patio area, and a spacious Conservatory for messy play activities.

  The emphasis at this stage is to allow the children to continue to learn through their play whilst at the same time being encouraged to learn the everyday skills and independence needed as they head towards school. The basis for all of their activities will be The Early Years Foundation Stage in which they will develop six key areas of learning...

• Every Chid Matters Outcomes

  Every Chid Matters Outcomes

  Staff working with all the Under 5's work in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage. This framework is based on encouraging seven main aspects of development in each child.

  During their time with us each child has a comprehensive Learning Diary, that is compiled by their Keyworker, made up from Observations carried out on the children, photo's and pieces of their work. The Keyworkers will be happy to talk you through your child’s records during their time with us and regular appointments will be arranged for this.
